SwiftX™ DNA - a rapid and versatile DNA isolation technology
SwiftX™ DNA (cat.no. SXD-25) is a versatile technology for rapid extraction of viral and bacterial DNA as well as isolation of DNA from parasites, animal and human specimen. Due to the unique bi-functional magnetic particles in SwiftX DNA, a wide range of sample types can be addressed and rapidly processed. SwiftX DNA was designed to match the workflow and the performance of the discontinued QIAGEN SpeedXtract® Nucleic Acid Kit. Its suitability for various pathogens as well as matrices is proven by a multitude of scientific papers. Reach out to us to receive a list of references. SwiftX DNA extraction can be applied in Point of Care field applications as well as in routine labs. It allows extraction of high-quality DNA in as little as 7 minutes with a minimum number of worksteps. For that, the lysis process is driven by application of heat and impurities are removed by magnetic particles - a process which we named "reverse purification". Instead of DNA, the magnetic beads bind impurities such as cell debris and proteins. |
SwiftX DNA further enables a universal cell capture before the heat lysis. By that, also liquid specimens such as urine and whole blood can be rapidly processed. SwiftX DNA has been proven to capture the following targets:

The different types of specimens are processed using specific protocols. Each of them is tailored to certain sample types as explained below.
| Protocol 1 is the shortest way to use SwiftX DNA and is applicable to specimens such as:
SwiftX DNA is superior to other rapid extraction methods due to the reverse purification function driven by the magnetic particles, which efficiently removes inhibitory substances to enable enhanced compatibility of the extracted DNA with a wide range of downstream applications. |
Protocol 2 includes the cell capturing step before the actual extraction and purification step. By that, it allows the processing of less complex liquid samples up to a volume of 1mL such as:
Protocol 3 is similar to Protocol 2 but is dedicated to process complex liquids and specimens with a high content of inhibitory substances such as alcohols. For that, Protocol 3 includes a single wash step between cell capture and DNA extraction. The diagram on the right shows examples for the use of SwiftX DNA with Protocol 2 (urine and saliva) and Protocol 3 (whole blood), respectively. |

If required, the nucleic acid extraction with SwiftX DNA can also be automated. For that, robotic systems such as the KingFisher Flex can be used. Reach out to our Sales team if this is of interest to you.
